CPA was
founded in March 1972. We held our first auction in a small
room in a local hotel. At that time we had around 200 lots
with about 40 people attending the sale. In the intervening
years we have moved shop premises & changed our auction
venue.
We now hold our auctions approximately every 5 - 6 weeks at
The Maltings in Ely. This characteristic building erected
in 1868 was first used as a brewery and converted in 1987
into a venue for conferences and functions. It is in a pleasant
location overlooking The River Ouse.
Our public
auctions now comprise about 3000 lots featuring worldwide
collections, single stamps, sets and covers.
Usually
100 or more clients attend these sales with another 500 -
600 postal bidders participating.

For
those customers who cannot come to the auction viewing is available
at our shop premises up to four weeks before the sale. Our opening
hours are Wednesday - Saturdays 9.30am - 5pm.
We also
have a postal viewing facility for small postable lots as
well as being able to supply photocopies of single stamps,
sets and covers.
The company
employs three full-time and two part-time staff, all of whom
have to work closely together to meet the stringent deadlines
of catalogue production.
