NOTES TO ASSIST BIDDERS

CONDITIONS OF SALE : As per Philatelic Auctioneers Standard Terms and Conditions of Sale (1973 revisions) a copy of which may be had upon request.
1) All lots are sold without VAT or on a tax inclusive basis.

2) Successful postal bidders will be notified by pro forma invoice, and this should be paid within 7 days.

3) Bidding will increase in the following steps:

Up to £10 in steps of 50p
£10 to £20 in steps of £1

£20 to £100 in steps of £2
£100 to £200 in steps of £5

£200 to £500 in steps of £10
£500 to £1000 in steps of £25

£1000 to £2000 in steps of £50
£2000 to £5000 in steps of £100

£5000 upwards in steps of £250

Any bids not falling into this system will be reduced to the nearest proper bid.
4) "Buy" bids can only be accepted on the condition that the auctioneer's decision is final.

STARTING PRICES: for most lots will be 75% of the estimated value, no lot will be offered at less than 66% of estimate.

Our rates of sale are as follows:
Up to £500 @ 17.5 %
£500 to £1000 @ 15 %
over £1000 @ 12.5 % per sale

Minimum Commission £3.00 Per Lot + VAT

cds = Circular date stamp S/W = Sideways m = Mint but previously mounted
C/W = Commonwealth Wmk = Watermark og = Mint but only part of original gum remains
Inv = Inverted u = Used un = Unused stamps without postmark & without gum
FDC = First Day Cover fu = Fine Used
MS = Miniature Sheet vfu = Very Fine Used
Set to £1 = Set complete to the value quoted
Val to £1 = Incomplete set to the value quoted
STC = Stated to catalogue (by Vendor & unchecked by Auctioneer)

POSTAL VIEWING

Due to the large demand for viewing by post we have had to limit this facility to single items (stamps or covers) and small easily packaged lots (no collections or accumulations).
All lots must be returned within 24 hours with Postage, Package and insurance both ways being borne by the enquirer.

As much information as possible will be gladly given over the telephone.

Photocopies of certain lots are available @ 20p per lot.

SINGLE COPIES 75p
Europe - £12.00 per annum
UK - £7.00 per annum
Overseas - £18.00 per annum

SHOP NOTICE

We apologise that we are unable to answer telephone calls before 2.00pm on the Tuesday following the auction, or reply to faxes until the following Thursday.
If you bid for bulky lots please ensure you are available to sign for and take delivery of your package.

If you have any problems arranging collection you may wish to take advantage of a private carrier we often use. A delivery can normally be organised for a convenient day.
